appearance
In public and around those he doesn't know well, Shepard carries himself with a calm, collected air. He's somewhat more muscular than one might expect a mage to be, due to the fact that he still keeps up with the sword training from his youth. Freckles dot his skin in moderate quantities, and there are two visible scars on his face; one across the left side of his lips, and the other cutting horizontally across his right cheek. From the elbow down, he's missing his left forearm, and often alternates between a wooden prosthetic or pinning his sleeve up and out of the way. He can often be spotted wearing a specific blue and white slouch hat, and rarely goes anywhere without his Spirit Blade Hilt on his belt.

IC Information
Character Name: Shepard Trevelyan
Canon: Dragon Age
Canon Point/AU: Post Trespasser
TL;DR: A mage of noble bloodline, Shepard was born to the Trevelyan family of Ostwick. The youngest of eight siblings, he had been expected to follow in the family footsteps and serve in the Templar Order; these plans were - of course - upended when he presented as a mage, and Shepard was sent instead to the Ostwick Circle of Magi to study magic under strict supervision. Following the start of the Mage/Templar war, Shepard was present at the Conclave peace talks, where he accidentally stumbled upon a plot that would eventually lead to him being named leader of the Inquisition.
History/Abilities Reference: Wiki Link, Personal World State
❅ Winter's Ruin - Locks a target in a sheet of ice, freezing it in place. Enemies that are already frozen or chilled take massive damage when hit with Winter's Ruin.Inventory:
❅ Frost Step - Calls upon waves of magic to carry him forward, blurring ahead a short distance. Passing through enemies hurts them and leaves them chilled.
❅ Wall of Ice - Manifests a wall of frigid ice that keeps enemies at bay.
❅ Ice Mine - Marks the ground with a glyph that takes a short time to prime. Once it is ready, it will freeze the first target to step on it.
❅ Ice Armor - Shepard draws on cold magic nearby to create a set of glacial armor to protect him from all attacks; standing near a frozen enemy or a persistent cold spell reduces all damage taken.
❅ Winter Winds - Summons forth a blizzard centered on a specific point, chilling and damaging enemies caught within the radius. Concentration is not needed to maintain this effect.
❅ Barrier - Places a shield around himself and any party members who are in close range. A barrier provides an additional health bar that must be destroyed before the target will take any damage. Barrier is vulnerable to dispel effects.
❅ Revival - Summons spirits to heal nearby fallen allies, getting them back on their feet and fighting shape again.
❅ Defending Blade - Shepard manifests a blade of solid magic to make melee attacks against nearby enemies. Dealing damage with other abilities charges the blade. Attacking expends this charge to deal additional damage. Incoming projectiles can be deflected with this blade, sending a shockwave of energy back at the attacker.
❅ Fade Shield - Shepard draws back the energy released by his enemies in his attacks against them. Any successful attack strengthens his barrier; the more damage he does, the more powerful his barrier grows.
❅ Stasis Lock - An area is filled with magical energy that slows and weakens enemies caught within it. Enemies larger than the field are immune. Those within the Disruption Field are slowed to a stop over the course of several seconds; striking them ends the effect.
❅ Resurgence - Shepard calls upon benign spirits to restore himself and his allies in order to continue the fight. All party members are healed to full health, including those who have fallen unconscious, and a glyph around Shepard provides ongoing healing to the party for the spell's duration (10 seconds). This ability consumes and is powered by focus.
❅ General Magic - Magic exists to serve man, and never to rule over him. As a mage, Shepard has access to a number of arcane abilities that wouldn't otherwise serve in combat situations. By charging objects such as rocks or boulders with his magic, he can levitate them to clear paths or create bridges. He can summon Veilfire, or light torches with a touch of his fingers. Given he primarily specializes in ice magicks, he's been known to use it for rather mundane purposes, such as chilling a warm drink, or to place a cooling hand on a heated brow.
❅ Spirit Blade Hilt - A physically crafted hilt that serves as a magical focus, allowing the manifestation of the aforementioned magic blade.
❅ Sending Crystal - A rare opalescent crystal housed within a pendant that lets two parties communicate easily across large distances. Attuned specifically to its pair, which is in the possession of Dorian Pavus. Probably doesn't work here, but he keeps it on him regardless
❅ Wooden Prosthetic - A carved wooden arm that attaches to the wearer via various straps and belts. Not capable of articulation, and is purely for cosmetic purposes.
❅ Hook-ring Prosthetic - A carved wooden prosthetic that attaches to the wearer via various straps and belts. The end has a rounded hook apparatus mounted onto a rotating socket, making it possible to grip a mage's staff and spin it about with unnecessary amounts of flair.
Pets/Companions:
❅ Sharpface - A grumpy white dracolisk that measures roughly 15 hands at the withers. Prone to screaming when upset, and survives on a diet of live, rabbit-sized rodents. Begrudgingly has chosen Shepard as his favorite human, and will staunchly refuse to be ridden by anyone other than said favorite human. What do you hope to achieve with this character?: He needs a vacation and I refuse to give him one. He's here to catch vibes, both good and horrendous. Also a cool robot hand would be neat but not necessary.
